In this talk we want to show that crowd funding and open source match perfectly due to their principle of "many a little makes a mickle".

For those who never heard it, we will explain what crowd funding actually is and how it works for both, sponsors and campaign starters. Then we will show the similarities to open source development and why we think, that this will be the way to go for open source communities, who want to finance parts of their development.

Finally we will give some real life insight into the "Gridelements 2.0" campaign, that we conducted last year to successfully raise an overall amount of EUR 40.000,- within 3 month, telling you about the possible pitfalls for campaign starters as well.
