During the spring of 2013, we implemented a new website or the danish Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries. The website had a lot of the traditional requirements of governmental sites, including a strong focus on accessibility (WCAG 2.0 AA Compliance) and cookie handling in a large multisite TYPO3 installation. The site also wanted to challenge the traditional perception of government websites by creating a fully responsive website using a combination of structured content and a strongly managed taxonomy system to relate content across the traditional website structure. The taxonomy system was implemented using the new TYPO3 CMS Categories features, including an integration to Solr indexing server. During the talk, we will go through the various features, including accessibility, cookie handling, responsivity, taxonomy, and also a brand new news direct mailing module, which integrates Mailchimps mailerservice Mandrill for fast, reliable e-mail sending of news items.
